Dan Okutta holds a Master of Laws Degree (LLM) and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with more than eight years’ experience in legal practice. He has vast experience in Fintechs & financial services laws, corporate & commercial law, Employment & Labour Law, Legal Research, Alternative Dispute Resolution, CBA negotiations, litigation and training in employment. His legal counsel is widely sought by clients relating to a wide range of matters including corporate and commercial, corporate insolvency and restructuring, constitutional legal practice and handling election petitions. He is also an astute litigator having handled a wide range of litigation matters such as:

    • The Yatta Parliamentary Election Petition NO. 2 of 2017 Francis Kilonzo vs IEBC & others. He successfully defended the Independent and Boundaries Commission in suit which was dismissed and the Independent and Boundaries Commission was awarded costs.

    • Defending matters before the Court of Appeal.

    • Mr Okutta handled the case of Auto Xpress Limited and Kenya Ports Authority in which we represented Kingsway Tyres Limited as an Interested Party in Application No.61 of 30th November, 2015 between at the Public Procurement Review Board (PPRB). Auto Xpress were challenging award of a tender for supply of tyres, tubes and accessories to the successful bidders including our client Kingsway Tyres Limited. The decision of the Board is attached. The parties have filed an appeal to challenge that decision and the High Court (Sergon J.) granted a stay of the PPRB’s decision on 18.3.2016.

    • Mr. Okutta has represented various corporate clients in a number of employment matters in which he has successfully defended them to a positive conclusion. Amongst such clients include the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC), NGOs Co-Ordination Board, NG-CDF Board, National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), Kenya Trade Network Agency (KENTRADE), KCA University, Kenya Sugar Board, amongst others
